5 Editing the Preferences

5.1 Settings

The Contact Manager comes with a basic set of preferences. This first page allows you to specify your country that you reside within (using locale).

You can also setup the Contact Manager to perform different actions when you double-click an entry whilst within the WWW or FTP section of the Contact Manager. For instance, double click to edit WWW/FTP entries allows the Contact Manager to edit an entry when you double--click an entry within the WWW/FTP section. This means you would be required to use the RMB menu to send entries to Voyager, IBrowse or AmFTP, rather than double-clicking to send them.

Double-click to start an Arexx script would send an entry to Voyager, IBrowse or AmFTP but wouldn't edit the entry unless you press the 'edit' button. Also, with this setup the Contact Manager will not close. So, when you double-click a WWW or FTP entry, the URL will be sent to the browser or FTP program and the Contact Manager will remain open.

Double-click to start Arexx script and quit enables the Contact Manager to send the URL information to the browser or FTP program and then quit once the URL has been sent. To edit a URL from the list, you would have to manually click the 'edit' button.

Use OpenURL library tells CM to use the openurl.library to send URLs to your browser. You can get this library from http://www.cs.uit.no/~troels/openurl.html.

5.2 Programs

This page allows you to specify where the rexx scripts are located on your hard drive. They will be used when Contact Manager needs to interact with your programs.

You can use the cycle gadgets to choose some pre-set scripts, or set them to "---" and enter a script path manually.

The path gadget should specify the path to your program: the scripts receive the path as an argument, thus you don't need to edit them as in the first version of Contact Manager.

5.3 Hotlists

This page allows you to specify where the hotlists are located on your hard drive. The Contact Manager will then check them each time you run the program and re-import the bookmarks or internal addressbooks if they have changed.

5.4 Dialer

This page allows you to configure the dialer. You can choose whether CM should use its internal dialer or an external program. In the latter case you could use Rx Work:Contact_Manager/Rexx/SendPhone.rexx "%s" to use the provided STFax interface script.

The settings available for the internal dialer are the following:

• Device - Serial device to use

• Unit - Unit of the device

• Shared - Set it to open the device in shared mode

• Modem type - You can specify your modem type here (not really used)

• Modem init - Init string for your modem. ATZ should be enough.

• Dial command - Command to use to dial out

• Redial delay - Delay between two dial attempts

• Redial attempts - Max number of attempts before giving up

5.5 DOpus FTP

This section allows you to configure the DOpus Magellan support within the Contact Manager.

• Default FTP target - makes DOpus Magellan the target for FTP entries, rather than AmFTP. For instance, if you have setup the preferences to Double-click to start Arexx script and quit, then a DOpus FTP server lister will appear, rather than sending the FTP URL to AmFTP.

• Local lister - you can open a generic local lister for all DOpus FTP servers, For instance you might want to get the Contact Manager to open a local list of you downloads drawer, everytime you open a DOpus FTP server.
